"With everything that has happened to you, you can either feel sorry for yourself or treat what has happened as a gift. Everything is either an opportunity to grow or an obstacle to keep you from growing. You get to choose."
Wayne Dyer

Professional Approach

I work with individuals, couples and families. I have a practice in Richmond BC, and am also available for phone and online counseling.

I work with you to tailor the approach best suited to your individual needs. I welcome people of all ages, gender identities, sexual orientations, ethnic and cultural backgrounds, and spiritual or religious beliefs.

The following issues can be addressed in counseling:
  • Stress management
  • Anxiety
  • Depression, post partum depression
  • Couples issues
  • Grief and loss, pregnancy loss
  • Health issues
  • Interpersonal violence
  • Anger management
  • Trauma
  • Family relationships
  • Life transitions
  • Women’s issues
  • Spirituality
  • Existential issues

I am certified in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, and use this to help clients effectively manage anxiety and depression. This therapy can also be used in couple’s counseling to assist partners to improve communication skills.

Mindfulness can be very helpful to address stress management,  as well as depression,  anxiety and trauma. I use Janine Fisher's trauma informed therapy to assist clients to address and better manage traumatic experiences.

I am trained in Therapeutic Touch, which assists in calming anxiety and promoting healing through the clearing of one’s personal energy field.

I practice Satir Brief Therapy, which helps people become more aware of their behaviour, thoughts, feelings, expectations and yearnings in order to gain clarity on addressing problems more effectively. This therapy can be helpful to address any issues.

For couples, Gottman’s couple’s therapy is used as appropriate to improve the relationship. Emotional Freedom Therapy helps clients express their feelings, so that their partners are better able to understand them, and can help to forge a closer relationship, and may also promote personal healing.

In conjunction with these therapies, I draw on Positive Psychology to create an awareness of a client’s inner strengths as well as positive factors in the situation.
